dezeen has a good article with more images so I would recommend you go there to check it out. However, as one of the comments pointed out, Joe Colombo had something similar (and better) 30 years ago for Oluce. You can see the Oluce light here and determine if it is indeed more elegant yourself.

And yes, after comparing the two, I’d still say Joe Colombo’s design is a little bit better in the overall look and feel.
